Learning Outcomes
* Delineate the options available to non-profit agency staff for raising funds and evaluate the significance of diversification in revenue sources.
* Differentiate the roles and responsibilities of the policy board, executive director, staff, and community members in non-profit agencies and organizations.
* Design a small program budget and illustrate how to monitor expenditures.
* Demonstrate the ability to work as a member of a team to investigate and propose relevant solutions to issues occurring in human services organizations and assess their impact on the administrative aspects of the services delivery system.

Board meeting write-up
Attend a board meeting of a local non-profit and submit a written report.
Brief analysis of an agency or program founded by a social entrepreneur
Summarize the history, organizational structure, and the organization’s position in the nonprofit lifespan.
Budget for a program
Develop an initial budget for a program within an existing organization or a new organization you would like to start. Includes spreadsheet and written narrative including justification for expenses and plan for diversification of funding sources.
In-depth examination of a local non-profit
Your major assignment of the quarter allows you to apply the knowledge you have gained regarding management to an evaluation of a human service organization. You will work in pairs and extensively examine a local non-profit organization including leadership, organizational structure, fund development strategies, and financial, and marketing/communications. At a minimum, you will interview a board member, the director or other leader, an employee, a volunteer, and another stakeholder about various aspects of the organization. You will provide an extensive write-up about the organization to me.
