Each week we were asked to answer a question with a picture we have taken. It was a artistic outlet for share our opinion about a particular topic and become more aware of how there are different ways to interpret all situations/concepts.
What is Human Service?
Human Service is about assisting other to gain perspective on their potential to succeed in life through available resources and support systems. Individuals who participate within the Human Service system do it unknowingly or for self reward. Children are often not given enough credit from being empathetic, but often mimic what they observe. The two boys did not want to participate in the 5K Walk-A-Thon and not aware of the difference they were making by just participating. To them it was a function their family forced them to attend, but to the Make-A-Wish Foundation they raised over $50,000.
What type of attitude should you have in H.S.P.?
Human Service professionals need to be open minded and quick to respond to different situations. We are unique individuals who are capable of being multidisciplinary in a field that can assist to various situations. This image portrays how a human service professional is able to still cater to other’s needs in a time of panic.
What is a struggle with Human Service Professional?
The struggles with Human Service are time management and schedule conflicts. Human Service requires a lot of time, but so does having a life. I am not only anticipating being a Human Service professional I still play many roles; a mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friends. I need to be able to balance my time with all my prior commitments including my career.
What is your inspiration to work as a Human Service professional?
My inspiration to become a human service professional are the current and future students who are pursing a higher education through various opportunities. The Rally in Olympia for higher education and other numerous concerns showcased the various opportunities I can advocate for the future. This is a picture of a group of student leaders from Skagit Valley College I have worked with and guided through the student organization to make a difference on their campus.
